Mr. Merson has been practicing law in Oklahoma for more than 47 years. His practice encompasses commercial real estate law, estates, probate, and tax law. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration, majoring in accounting, from University of Oklahoma and his LLB from University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1961.
Mr. Merson has since been admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court, the United States 10th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.
An advocate for community engagement, Mr. Merson served his community as a member of the Metropolitan Area Projects (MAPS), serving as chairman of the Construction Review Committee. Currently he serves as trustee and treasurer of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, a board member of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, a member of the advisory board of Oklahoma City Beautiful, a board member of The Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools, and a member of the board of trustees for the Jewish Federation of Oklahoma City Foundation. Mr. Merson is also a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Capitol Hill Athletic and Activities Association.
He has continued to serve on the Heritage Trust Board of Directors since the company’s inception in 1998.
Additionally, Mr. Merson is the past chairman of the Oklahoma City Traffic Commission, a former member of the Oklahoma City Golf Commission and a former board member of Temple B’nai Israel.
In his spare time, Mr. Merson enjoys spending time with his wife Hedra and their family. They have two daughters, both married, with six total grandchildren. He also enjoys golfing with friends, reading mystery books and volunteering in his community.
