Meet Sherri, who is with Argent Trust in Ruston and has been with us for 21 years.
Q. What led you to Argent and what makes it unique?
A. When I applied for a job at Argent (The Trust Company of LA at the time), it was a blind ad in the local newspaper, this was so out of my comfort zone but I was ready for a move in my career from being at the same family-owned local printing business for 10 years, I am so glad I took that chance and 21 years later, here I am, still in Operations!
Q. Why do you enjoy working at Argent?
A. I enjoy working at Argent because it feels like family, it’s a good day at the office when you can come in, enjoy your job and work side by side with people you consider your friends.
Q. What does the company mean to you?
A. A company that I can call my career, a place that hopefully I will retire from, a job that provides for me, somewhere that I enjoy coming to daily and performing my task to the best of my ability, working with colleagues that have become friends.
Q. What has been the proudest moment at Argent?
A. It’s an annual tradition for Argent Trust Company LA/TX to recognize a staff member at our staff social in May for their contribution to the company with a “Commitment to Excellence Award”, this is an award voted on by our peers, I was awarded this in 2012, I was excited that my co-workers thought that highly of me and my commitment to Argent, well then came 2013, it was a tie with me and a co-worker, and then came 2014, yet another tie with me and another co-worker, I have never been so excited about anything work related as I was being honored with this award 3 years in a row. I have all 3 of them hanging in my office today and they remind me what an awesome company Argent is and the wonderful co-workers I work alongside!
Q. What is on your wish list for the next 10 years with Argent?
A. For the next 10 years at Argent I wish to continue to grow professionally and contribute in as many ways as I can to the success story of Argent.
Q. If you could have any other job for one day, what would it be?
A. I would be an event/wedding planner – photographer! Anybody that knows me knows how much I love to plan parties! I planned and did all the decorating for both my girls weddings and now love planning my grandson’s birthday parties! I have two weddings that I will be helping with this year! And at any holidays or parties, I am the one with the camera, I have thousands of pictures from over the years!
Q. What is your favorite thing to do in Ruston?
A. When my youngest daughter and her husband pull their camper to town and stay in Lincoln Parish Park and we all hang out there as a family, this is a hidden gem right here in our hometown!
Q. What motivates you?
A. My family! My girls are my world, they are both married to wonderful men and I have one grandson that per his mother is spoiled because of CiCi aka me and I wouldn’t change that for the world. And another one on the way that I can’t wait to spoil as well!
Q. What is a random fact about you?
A. I was a teen mom, this showed me major responsibilities at a young age but looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing because of what I have today!
