2| How long have you been volunteering?
I have been volunteering for six years and look forward to many more.
3| What motivates you to give back to the community?
I’m motivated to help underserved communities. Our Club leads the way in community volunteerism. Our mission is to bring together community leaders to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards and help build goodwill and peace in the world. We focus on peace and conflict resolution, maternal and child health, basic literacy and reading and community development.
4| What do you do when you volunteer?
It depends on the activity. I have volunteered as a mentor at a low socio-economic grade school (have lunch with students and answer questions), mentored recently retired service members about job and business opportunities, served on the leadership board and as treasurer for the 2022 Peace & Conflict Resolution Conference (May 2022) and taught financial literacy to single mothers.
5| How would you encourage others to get involved in their community?
Lead and ask.
6| In one sentence, can you explain why you donate your time to this organization.
It is an organized way to do good in my community.
7| What would you say to someone who’s thinking of volunteering?
Try it out. You don’t have to be a member to volunteer.
